What should You pack for University?
First things first, it has to be said that this page is as much for me as it is for you. Whilst the University excitement is running high, nerves and worries are kicking in for me; everything from "Will I make any friends?" to "Will I be able to afford to eat?" are questions which are running circles around my brain. I have decided that in order to be patient and calm these jitters, I just have to be ultra organised and plan everything- whilst still trying to maintain fairly realistic expectations, i.e. Unfortunately, I probably won't actually be able to get my hands on rose gold kitchen utensils as pictured below!
Luckily planning is my forte, so I've combined helpful posts elsewhere online and my own common sense, into my very own University Packing list essentials. (All this without even starting on the clothes, uh oh!)

For the kitchen, whilst initially it might seem like you need the full gear and more, you need to think realistically about what you will actually use. For example, if you only have soup once every blue moon, do you really need a ladle? And, it's all very well getting a full 24 piece cutlery set, but how many visitors are you expecting?
The bedroom is never going to feel like your bedroom at home because it just isn't the same room or in the same place, so don't try to replicate it. Just make the best of whatever you are given, making it as homely as possible, with a rug and fairy lights and bunting. And bringing along a lot of your current stuff and happy photos is a given!
It is also vital that you allow yourself to be organised throughout your studies, making sure that you have plenty of folders and notebooks and storage to file them in. The bathroom is probably the thing that will be most subjective to what is included in your particular room. For example, if you have an ensuite, you won't need to wear crocs in the shower but you will need a bathmat and hand towel. Most rooms have a sink as standard, however, mine will be without... I'm aniticipating that the main issue with this is going to be the journey from my room to the bathroom in the morning wearing my "I woke up like this"- which certainly is not "Flawless", so hopefully I won't bump into any flatmates!
It goes without saying, after GCSEs, ALevels and all the rest, University is going to offer some well deserved down time, which I absolutely cannot wait for. Lots of your time will undoubtedly be just chilling in your room, which is where an IPad and Netflix comes in, and another huge chunk of down time will be at Pre- Drinks with your friends/ flatmates, where drinking games are always welcome to spice things up a bit!

Coming from someone who hasn't been to University yet, the idea of moving out for the first time, packing your things and having to buy all the other essentials that you could ever possibly need, is very very daunting. But when you really think about it, it is only for a year until you move out into other accommodation, and for goodness' sake, you aren't moving to Mars- there will be shops! There will also be over 1,000 other students going through the exact same thing at your uni alone and at least 5 others in your flat to help you out- so we will be fine! I hope...
