Whenever I'm bored and in full procrastination mode, it's always necessary to stick on a film in the background while I revise or play some crappy game on my phone. These are the films I have watched over and over again but never get old:
BTW If you are a teenage girl and haven't watched one of these, do it now!
(And boys, I know a cheeky rom-com is your guilty pleasure, DW your secret is safe with me...)

1. Titanic
I mean, if you haven't watched this, don't even bother reading on- put it on now!! (No excuses because it's finally on Netflix, Hooray!) Forever a favourite, Titanic is a classic that everyone knows. The dramatic music, basic love narrative and immense sense of historical importance makes this top of my list. Besides the opportunity to sing-along to "My heart will go on" very badly, Titanic is always a good pick for a chilled out evening to make you think or a motivation to sit down for the entire lengthy duration and revise. A lovely classic film is always good when revising, because it doesn't matter if you tune out the film and focus 100% on the work for a bit, as it's always easy to work out what's happening when you do look up.
2. Love, Rosie
Love, Rosie is a film that definitely deserves more attention than it has got. It is a feel good rom-com- which are the best kind! The characters are hilarious and are easy to relate to, the soundtrack consists of songs from the 90s-00s to reminisce, and the ending is beautiful. It was loved by me and then even my boyfriend when I made him watch it. I seriously want and need another film like this to come out soon- although I think this has always got to be top of the rom-com list.
3. How To Be Single
I found How to be Single on NowTV movies but I believe it is now available on Netflix too- correct me if I'm wrong. But one thing I'm not wrong about is how fabulous this film is! Well, it's no surprise that this is a must see comedy, seeing as it features Rebel Wilson. She truly makes the film, as it follows multiple women experiencing (or notably not experiencing) love in New York City, with Rebel being the ultimate party girl- obviously! Again, this is one of those films that anyone can laugh at and love, and is both inspirational and fantastic.
4. Grease
Grease is another classic; just an old musical that's tells of a simple teenage love story and allows for a bit of a sing-along. The gangs are consistent with 60s stereotypical American High school but with added music and humor. The characters make you laugh whilst going about their everyday business and reinforcing crazy stereotypical members of their friendship groups; the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, which we can all relate to at least one of. It might be a little hard to understand at first, but hang on in there, the films picks up and lives up to it's status as a classic teen movie. Another one of my favorites similar to this is Footloose!
5. Wild Child
If you are a teen girl and you haven’t watched Wild Child, what have you been doing with your life? Seriously, Wild Child is an iconic girls film where stuck-up, IT-girl, Poppy Moore, is sent away from her luxury home in America to an English boarding school in the middle of nowhere. Whilst her geeky roommates become a little less geeky, Poppy undergoes a transformation herself whilst on a mission to get herself expelled. This is just a classic, fun, girly film, which is a go-to for sleepovers or just for a giggle. I have memories of watching this film in year 6 and I am unashamed to admit that it’s still one of my favorites.
6. Mean Girls
Ok, I know I said it about number 5, but if you say haven’t seen this ... well, I just won’t believe you! This has to be THE girls film of the naughties, where girls battle it out amongst each other as all the school's social ladder are respresented. The IT girl group are infiltrated with the new girl, who has been sent in by the geeky group as a spy. This new girl, Cady who has never been to school before, begins to fit it to the popular girl gang a little bit too well which see her transform into a popular chic herself... until she takes it too far. A fabulous narrative representing the high school struggle of being a girl. Another favourite since pre- year 6; I’m still as addicted to Mean Girls at 18 years old, as I was at 10! ...And remember; “We wear pink on Wednesdays”!
7. Pitch Perfect
There seems to be a theme here with the girly rom-coms: this one being another musical sensation which has hit the screens featuring Rebel Wilson, again! She steals the show as Fat Amy (or Fat Patricia- SPOILER) on the accapella scene along with the other characters in the all girl Barden University group, the Barden Bellas. They are on a mission to win the Acapella Nationals over their male counterparts, the Trebelmakers, and the other groups across the country. As well as featuring the amazing soundtrack of many mashups, old and new, the friendships, forbidden relationships and enemies between the Bellas and the Trebelmakers create a tension and humour as the two groups battle it out. Funny, hot and sassy are probably the words I would use...
8. 17 Again
You guessed it; another rom-com! Of course Zac Efron had to make it on here somewhere, and I think 17 again is one of the best out of his films. Zac plays the character of Mike but in the body he had when he was 17, meaning he is forced to go back to high school as a similar age to his own kids. I think the funniest part about it is that it’s basically a parent experiencing school and realising that the part that they are exposed to by their kids, really isn’t what it’s like at all. Zac’s character ends up in Sex ed with his daughter, whose bully, jock boyfriend is joking about having sex with her... which doesn’t go down well obviously! Another funny high school sleepover movie which you literally have to see, with all the essential ingredients; hot guys, cute girls, humour and a house party.
9. Legally Blonde
This was one of those films that I was a bit late to the game with watching. My parents have seen the stage show and love it, so I thought it was about time that I watched it, and once I did, I couldn't believe I hadn't before. I watched it for the first time when studying for my GCSEs, and I am so glad I did, because this film promotes hard work to achieve an academic goal, taking on the idea that anything is achievable if you work for it. This really spurred on my studies, particularly seeing as any girl that watches the film wants to be like Elle Wood. But aside from that, it's just a brilliant all round film, a must see, girls!
10. The Fault In Our Stars
Finally, TFIOS... I was toying with whether or not to put this one in to my top 10, as it's another sad one, which I normally watch to about half way and then stop to avoid the inevitable sadness towards the end. Despite this, this film is soo soo cleverly put together and talks about a subject that is very real, without glamorising it- as many subjects are in the film industry. Therefore, it had to make the Top 10 as it leaves you with such an important message, not to mention, the acting from Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort is absolutely phenomenal, and from watching a few too many behind the scenes clips, they seem like such inspirational people. It's definitely a must see if you haven't already, but do have the tissues ready!
